Campaign List health, email bounces and supressions
Volunteer Plus has an in-built process to manage subscriber suppressions (e.g. bounces, spam complaints and unsubscribes). On a daily basis an automatic process is run which checks for suppressions on recent campaigns (e.g. if an email address has reported spam) – if a suppression is found the subscriber is automatically updated on the Campaign List – meaning the recipient will no be sent any further emails from that List and your Campaign List health in maintained.
If a recipient has unsubscribed, the email address cannot be re-subscribed through a sign up form. In these cases you will need to get in touch with us (support@volunteerplus.org.uk) and we will review the suppression to then re-enable the email address.
Spam complaints follow a similar automatic process – whereby if a recipient reports spam, Volunteer Plus is notified from which we then suppress the email address to ensure no further emails are sent. To re-instate a spam reported email, we would need to see an email from the subscriber confirming they did not intend to report as spam or reported in error. We can then re-instate the email address.
To summarise, you do not need to take any manual action to maintain the health of your Campaign Lists when email addresses bounce, report spam or unsubscribe – Volunteer Plus will handle that automatically for you. You’ll only need to get in touch on the odd occasion when a recipient has unsubscribed or reported spam (by mistake) and now wishes to receive your emails again.
